The Buffalo Bills got ambushed in Cleveland last night as they were outplayed pretty badly in the second half of the game. E.J. Manuel completed 11 of 20 passes for 129 yards without a TD pass or INT. He also carried the ball 1 time for 14 yards. E.J. Manuel sprained his knee in the 3rd quarter and he did not return. Then the Bills had to throw undrafted rookie QB Jeff Tuel into the fire and it didn’t go too well. Tuel completed only 8 of 20 passes for 80 yards with 0 TD passes and 1 INT (it was returned 44 yards for a TD by T.J. Ward). C.J. Spiller led the way on the ground for the Bills in this game with 66 yards rushing on 8 carries (8.3 ypc) with 1 TD run. Fred Jackson also was productive with 17 carries for 53 yards (3.1 ypc) with 1 2 TD runs and he also caught 4 passes for 40 yards (10.0 avg) in this game. Tashard Choice pitched in with 5 carries for 22 yards (4.4 ypc) in this game. WR Robert Woods (5 rec, 64 yards) and TE Scott Chandler (4 rec, 49 yards) led the way for the Bills in the passing game. The Bills rushed for 155 yards on 31 carries (5.0 ypc) and they also completed 19 of 40 passes (47.5%) for 188 yards as they had possession of the ball for 27:37.
The Bills had issues on special teams and it hurt a pretty good effort by the defense last night. Travis Benjamin of the Browns returned 7 punts for 179 yards (25.6 avg) with a 79-yard TD return in this game. The Bills had five sacks last night. LB Kiko Alonso led the way for the Bills with 12 tackles and 1 tackle for a loss. Alonso also knocked out Browns’ QB Brian Hoyer in the first quarter last night. DT Kyle Williams (8 tackles, 1 sack, 1 tackle for a loss and 2 QB hits), LB Jerry Hughes (5 tackles, 1.5 sacks and 1 QB hit) and DE Mario Williams (4 tackles, 2 sacks, 2 tackles for a loss and 3 QB hits) also played well for the Bills. The Browns only rushed for 91 yards on 32 carries (2.8 ypc) and they also completed 15 of 28 passes (53.6%) for 199 yards in this game. The Bills are now 2-3 on the year.
